Pitch Perfect

The media niche which will be discussed is sports media productions, and the field of inquiry will see how audience members engage and interact with sports media productions. This will then help the DA continue to improve and iterate its content for more members and help for the future industry of sports media production.

The online persona which has already been created will be further examined through a comparative study of Australian sports media publications to help expand the one that is being produced in the DA.

In accordance with the lecture materials, conceptualising will be done in order to answer a question, as research questions can guide information. What is it that sports media companies do in order to attract an audience? This will be answered through ethnographic research, such as content analyses and participating as an audience member myself.

According to Roelf. P.uit Beijerse knowledge has the capacity to interpret data. In order to expand the expertise of this niche it is imperative to understand the figures sports media production companies get. With this, interpreting my overall experience as an audience member with these sports media publications can help with what should be achieved with my DA. This helped N. Ussin with his ethnographic research as personal experience was corroborated with social research.

A weekly guideline will include a continuation of content for all 3 pages, particularly as more news and games are being played. A field site will explain the different branches of sports media production and these are assessed in order to help with the DA being produced and the sports media production company niche.

  1. Hey Chrisos! You’ve done a unique video style that stands out amongst the others, good job! Some visual aid may have assisted your explanations and audience understanding of your concepts. The content you’ve planned for seems to be quite developed and you know where you’re headed with your DA, that’s great. I also think your planned use of social media platforms is really good and very interesting how you will be narrowing your niche across each platform – as in, multiple sports on one, football on another and then a specific football league. This could be executed really well and give you the ability to collect in-depth research across all platforms. Beware that this seems like a really big workload and may become too much, in which case, you have a great set-up to narrow your niche down a lot and continue from there – maybe just focusing on the football league. Though you did mention doing interviews on one of your platforms, you should remember that you can’t conduct your own for this subject. You mentioned that your content will include goals and scores, if there is any other content you will be posting as a sports media company, you should elaborate on that to make it very clear what your niche is and what you are presenting as your DA.
You very briefly touched on your persona in both the video and blog, I think this needs much more expansion and explanation; covering more on how you’re developing it (though you did slightly mention this), what your persona will be and how it will be perceived by your audiences. Doing this will assist your DA as well as your own progression and keeping on track with your presence.
Overall, your pitch was a bit vague and could have more depth but was well done and I think it will be really good once it is more developed!

  2. Hello Chrisos, firstly, what grabbed my attention what was the highlight of your DA was your commitment to creating the video. Your voice was clear, you showed confidence and enthusiasm in your niche and where you plan on taking your DA.
The textual part of your pitch was also well done, in the sense that it further expanded on the points that you made, without repeating what had already been stated. I found that the main objectives of what you planned to do was well covered in the video, with additional information being in the textual section.
Furthermore, I feel that you have answered many of the questions very well. For instance, when breaking the requirements from the subject outline into multiple different sections, you can split your DA and assign them to the outline. For example, part 1, is delineate your media niche and field of inquiry, it’s clearly stated by you and easy to see what kind of direction you’ll be taking with it. However, I did find the field site to be quite simple, you could have included a few more subheadings per section to help expand your field site. Additionally, there wasn’t any hyperlinks in the text nor was there tags and categories. The title name was also irrelevant to the actual DA.
I looked through your sources and they were also quite interesting and relevant to your DA. Although you didn’t include any from the readings on Moodle, I still found them to be quite useful, especially Uddin’s, as his explanation of ethnography was quite fascinating.
I have recommended this article regarding ethnography particularly from a female sports fan’s perspective. As you’re covering multiple different sports from an audience’s viewpoint, this article highlights, self-reflection, collaborative self-ethnography, and critical and common themes.

  3. Hey mate, I love that I am reading about football this is great. You have given a great outline of the DA and focused heavily on the sports content side of things. But you have touched briefly upon your Autoethnographical study and its components for example:
You have briefly mentioned your niche and field site within the video and the blog post, I feel these need further description and elaboration. This can be achieved by linking your Feild site and Media Niches posts to generate more leads on the site and provide more content.
Next is that I think you should have a set schedule for your YouTube content. You briefly mentioned you would post on this whenever you have a chance. I think it would be beneficial to your growth upon the platform and to your brand to have regular content here, even if it’s just once a week.

I have also done a little more research into sports media and ways you could improve your digital artefact. On the topic of youtube I feel you could draw inspiration from these youtube channels:
