Mediums in Sport and Media

When it comes to mediums in media, the interaction between one set of content to another can further expand the message being seen in this medium.

This is particularly true in sport. Many sports teams are very active on all social medias. A Liverpool fan can follow their team on Instagram, watch their YouTube and also see their Twitter, therefore seeing all their content submerged in all their social media websites.

An example can be seen in this clip below. Many mediums are being used together to create one video. In this clip, the videos are are used from YouTube, which is then edited on iMovie, added with a music overlay, which is then uploaded on this Word Press. So as mentioned in the lecture, the content of any medium is always another medium. Here is the video for you to see first hand what is actually being spoken about!

As seen, the audience is interacting with many different mediums whilst also admiring the goal that is being scored, accompanied by some house music to set the seen.

  1. Hey Chrisos!
Firstly I love that you have found something you are passionate about and created a way to connect it to McLuhan’s ideology. It’s an interesting concept when examining the effects social media can have on phenomenons such as sport. I discussed a similar concept relating to social media, but about movies instead! I found the video that you have created very interesting to watch, as you have taken a small snippet out of what would have been a 40-60 minute game (I am not a soccer fan so I am unsure how long the games are!). The addition of music again shows how you have taken the medium and divided it up by editing, cutting and then layering music on top of that and again cutting the music to ensure the scored goal hits on the climax of the song! Overall love the post! Awesome job!
