The Project Beta continued to emphasise my media niche of sports media productions and how my online persona within the YouTube, Instagram and website was heightened due to audience feedback, interaction and connection.
Through taking the audience feedback on board I was able to synthesise and add further knowledge of my niche and continue to develop my persona. This was done through polls, videos and breaking news. These effects had extraordinary results for the DA as followers grew on both Talking Sports’ Instagram and the Cypriot First League English Instagram.
What will continue to be developed based on various feedback loops is the type of thumbnails that will be used for the YouTube videos in order to attract more audiences within the media niche.
The timeline which was followed throughout the project, allowed for consistent flows of research and content creating to be simultaneously curated and works under one umbrella. This allowed for me to further engage in my persona as a professional, using a scope as a fan, and continue to research the media production media niche in one sitting.

Hello Chrisos, I have been somewhat following your DA since your first curation and have taken delight at what you’ve created. I also provided feedback for your pitch, so I thought it’d make sense to return for your beta. By going off the subject outline, I think you covered most of the points succinctly without repeating yourself in the contextual part of your beta.
Firstly, both Chris M and Chris C have placed great emphasis on having that natural tone, giving off the feeling that you’re not following some sort of script. I think you’ve done well in giving an impression and tone that is natural and that you’re clearly passionate about the niche that you’ve chosen. Furthermore, as you’ve decided to film yourself and watching your facial expressions, it’s noticeable that you’re reading off a script of some sort. However, you still come across as natural and following a plan never hurts.
Now with the regarding your developing your online persona, you’ve clearly stated what kind of persona that you cover multiple different personas depending on what platform that you’re using, which is good. As I’ve only watched your YouTube channel, I haven’t had the opportunity to view your other platforms. So, with that in mind my only advice is that you take your perceived persona of enthusiastic, well informed, and passionate, as I’m sure you have, the YouTube channel is your primary platform, but I also hope you share the same type of passion for your other platforms as well.
It’s also good to see that you’ve taken in some helpful feedback. Implementing polls, videos, and the optimisation of thumbnails. It’s also good that you didn’t allow the peer feedback to discourage you. You stated that the people responded with your workload might be too much. However, you took this as an initiative and adapted your DA workload to enable research and content curation. This shows that you have initiative and perseverance for what you’re doing.
Saying that you’re an audience member would be an understatement. You’ve clearly taken a lot of inspiration from channels such as ESPN and you’ve adapted it to your own autoethnographic research. You gave a great example by showing your thumbnail and then ESPN’s thumbnail. And yes I would probably choose your thumbnail (for the memes). However, I feel that you may be trying to cover too many sports or topics. As you said yourself, the niche is very broad, it might be better to just focus on one sport, such as basketball. I do respect the ambition though.
And finally, the knowledge gained from the subject. You covered this part at the end of your beta, it was quite short, and you stated that you took a lot from the subject readings. However, I went through your sources, and they didn’t particularly come from subject readings, or not that I found from the provided ones. However, the two academic sources that you provided were quite good, as well as the ESPN, which you take a lot of inspiration from.
I’m also providing you this review site for what it’s like working at ESPN. You took a lot of inspiration from this site and maybe it’s something that you might consider in the future.
