Draft Pitch for Research

The topic in which I am thinking of researching is how many uni students within media play sport, and how that effects their time away from uni, both physically, socially and mentally.

This topic is of massive significance to be as my week consists of 3 sports, and sometimes more, with them being soccer, basketball, Greek Dancing and occasionally MIXED netball. This is why it matters to me, and I think it matters in general because playing sport should a part of everyone’s daily life. Australia is known for its sporting culture, so it is important to see how uni students go about on the sports field. It will also be discussed how they feel sport helps with their studies in a positive or negative way.

A few important stats provided by Clearinghouse for Sport, 90% of adults participated in sports in 2019 in Australia, that is HUGE! On top of this, community-based participation makes $18.7 billion per annum, showing that it is not only good for ourselves, but for the wider community as well.

This topic is relevant and engaging because sport is all around us, and whether we like it or not, people are engaging with sport at every moment of the day! Therefore, for me, it would be interesting to see whether this engagement stems through uni students or not, and the factors that effect the overall engagement and co-operation of sport for university students.
